PwC cracks exaggerate in bulk

PwC is number 1 in Switzerland. As cybersecurity became more and more important, the consultant made corresponding claims. We also want to be the driving force in cyber.

A few years later, the situation seems less great. The area of cyber security and privacy is in ruins. The best flee, the leaders alternate every year.

The situation has worsened in recent months. About 10 cracks have left PwC’s flagship department. They are the best people who are in demand in the market.

Marketing and finance specialists are left behind. They are good with PowerPoint slides, but lack in-depth computer knowledge.

This also applies to those moving from Microsoft to PwC in the cyber team. Like Google, Microsoft is one of the largest US technology companies.

But in the cyber space, the specialists who have been replaced by Microsoft shouldn’t be big lights, says an insider.

The area where the old ladder jumped off the worst shot. This is Wolfgang Schurr. He recently took over a new company called AWK.

A couple of PwC cyber cracks went with Schurr to the AWK. The staffing gap is widening.

The challenge is for the new head of the cybersecurity department. His name is Urs Küderli and he comes from Microsoft itself.

Küderli is described as an old school leader. It would bring together friends, mostly men, there was hardly any difference between the partners.

The fact that Küderli has to float the cyber ship is related to previous changes in the bosses. None of the partners behind the wheel remained for more than 2 years.

Küderli is not big IT and cyber crack itself. “Certainly not a grenade,” says a source. This would be a competitive disadvantage. Deloitte has created a top cyber team in Switzerland.

According to several respondents, the growing backlog in central cyber business has not yet increased at PwC. “The partners still think PwC is playing in the Champions League,” says one.

There would be a gap between affirmation and reality. PwC Switzerland has repeatedly stressed how central a strong cyber team is for one’s future in order to help companies and authorities with cyber attacks.

Instead of rushing away from the competition, PwC falls behind. This also applies to another security area that had great ambitions under Andreas Eschbach.

Little is left of all this, the expensive specialists and partners involved have long since left the company.

“The area of cybersecurity and privacy is a central focus and growth area for PwC Switzerland,” says a spokesperson for PwC.

“Not least due to our customers’ ever-changing requirements, threat scenarios and digitization challenges, a broad range of experts are needed to be successful in this environment.”

“Positive development with customers and newly acquired projects shows that PwC can successfully serve this area with well-founded expert knowledge and industry experience.”
