Google wanted to roll out its mobile operating system in cars as early as 2016. Not much has happened in this regard in Switzerland. Most have yet to pair their cell phone with the car display. But now there is a car with an Android-based infotainment system. An intermediate balance.
If you look for numbers on Android Auto in Switzerland, you won’t find much. When asked, Google said it cannot provide national data, as these are not published specifically by country, but worldwide.
A blog post on Android Auto from August 2020 states: “Android Auto is currently available from nearly every major car manufacturer and is on track to be installed on over 100 million cars in the coming months.”
Also, Auto Switzerland has no data or figures on the number of vehicles with Android Auto in this country. According to a spokesperson, the only model in Europe currently equipped with Android Automotive OS is the Polestar 2. More information on Android Automotive OS can be found on page 4.
