Wild deer slams into a car while fighting rival in Richmond Park

This is the moment when a wild deer crashed into the side of a car after colliding with a rival.

Footage captured by a viewer shows the two deer trying to assert their dominance in Richmond Park last Wednesday.

One of the animals gives up and starts running away, only to crash directly into a visitor’s vehicle.

The deer remains in midair, leaning against the car window for a few seconds before hitting the ground.

He then gets back into action and resumes the fight with his opponent in the park.

Lander Esparza Zudaire captured the footage during a walk last week.

Posting the footage on Twitter, he wrote: “I thought I was safe by keeping enough distance … but clearly I was wrong.”

Lander added that the deer that ran into the car appeared to be “isolated from his surroundings and focused only on combat.”

Royal park representatives have previously warned visitors that animals are not “Disney creatures”.

They advise people to stay at least 50 meters away from deer and stay aware of their surroundings so they don’t get in between two deer in heat or a mother and her young.

The mating season takes place between September and November and sees the dominant deer compete to mate with the doe.

Deer are often bloated with testosterone during this season, which means visitors could be put at risk.

It comes after a singer was kicked by an “aggressive” deer while posing for photos in Richmond Park during mating season.

Gemma Louisianna, 28, said she was “terrified” after the animal suddenly pushed her, leaving her with a sore back and “some bruises”.
