New base in Zurich: Condor attacks Edelweiss, Swiss and Chair

The German holiday airline will start this summer from Zurich to Greece, Italy, Croatia and Spain. Station two planes at the Swiss airport.

The airport is not completely new territory for Condor. When Niki ceased operations, the German airline launched some special flights to take Swiss vacationers to the Canary Islands. But it remained so.

Until now. Condor will be stationing two Airbus A320s at Zurich airport this summer. The German holiday airline will offer a total of 28 flights and will fly to Gran Canaria, Kos, Crete, Larnaca, Olbia, Palma de Mallorca, Rhodes, Split and Tenerife. Attacks Swiss and his sister Edelweiss, but also smaller suppliers such as Chair.

Tour operators are happy to answer

According to Condor, the expansion is responding to “huge demand from major Swiss tour operators” for holiday flights. “I am delighted that we are now also launching a diversified portfolio of destinations in Zurich,” says CEO Ralf Teckentrup. Three major suppliers are already responding with joy: Hotelplan Suisse, Kuoni and Tui Suisse.

In recent years, Swiss tour operators have repeatedly criticized Swiss and his sister Edelweiss. It was always too high a fee from their point of view. And of course the dominant position of Lufthansa airlines in Zurich. They have a market share of around two thirds.
