“Pay Securely” on eBay listings is designed to protect both buyers and sellers. If you do not receive the purchased item after payment or if it deviates significantly, you can request a refund. The platform manages the purchase amount in a fiduciary manner for up to 14 days, but a commission is then due which depends on the purchase price. The fee is paid by the buyer.
As a seller there are no commissions, but you must ship the item to the insured buyer. The new feature can be found for the first time on notebooks and computers, as well as on smartphones. Devices up to € 1,000 can be insured.
You don’t want to force the whole thing on the customer, “Pay safely” remains optional. And, of course, the whole thing doesn’t apply when you pick up the item. The Netherlands Online Payment Platform (OPP) is responsible for the new payment function. At the moment, users can pay by credit card and bank transfer. More payment options will be added over time.
