The curfew imposed during the new type of coronavirus outbreak (Kovid-19) and public attention to stay-at-home warnings have increased the length of phone calls. In the first quarter of the year, which covers the period January-March, the average monthly duration of calls from mobile devices, in particular mobile phones, was 488 minutes. Due to the increase in the number of Kovid-19 cases since mid-March, various measures have been implemented.
In the period April-June, when the curfew was imposed, the period of work from home intensified and citizens were asked not to go out except for mandatory situations, the time to talk on mobile phones increased.
In that 3-month period, talk time with mobile phones reached 544 minutes per month, an increase of 11.4 percent over the previous period. Turkey took first place among the European countries in this field.
4.5G THE NUMBER OF SUBSCRIBERS WAS ABOUT 75.4 MILLION
The mobile phone penetration rate in the country was calculated as 98.3% as of the second quarter of the year. During this period, the number of mobile subscribers was calculated to be around 81.7 million.
As the country’s communications infrastructure was preparing for 5G, the number of subscribers benefiting from the existing 4.5G service continued to rise.

Looking at the broadband data, the number of fixed subscribers was recorded at 15.3 million. The number of mobile subscribers was calculated to be around 63.1 million. Therefore, the number of broadband users increased by 4.1 percent in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 78.4 million in total.
The average monthly data usage of fixed broadband subscribers was 172.4 gigabytes. The average monthly data usage of mobile broadband subscribers was 8.7 gigabytes. The average data usage per month on 4.5G compatible devices reached 10.3 gigabytes.
In the period under review, the length of the fiber infrastructure reached 404,000 308 kilometers. This figure was 364,000 549 kilometers in the same period last year.
