The New York Stock Exchange experienced the worst day since June of this Wednesday, pressed by the exponential increase of new cases of covid-19 in Europe but also in the United States.
The major indices fell more than 3%, with the Dow Jones and S&P 500 posting the largest declines in more than four months.
The Dow Jones fell 3.43% to 26,519.95 points, the lowest since July 31st, while the S&P 500 fell 3.53% to close at 3,271.03 points, the lowest of the last month.
Even the tech ones did not withstand the red tide, and the Nasdaq Composite was even the most penalized index, with a drop of 3.73%, to 11,004.87 points.
