The American software company released its data shortly after the stock market closed. In terms of both sales and earnings per share, Microsoft not only beat the previous year’s figures, but the software giant also exceeded analysts’ expectations.
Better than expected sales and EPS
Microsoft has started the first quarter of the new fiscal year well. Revenues increased to $ 37.2 billion from $ 33.06 in the same period last year. Furthermore, the experts did not expect sales of this amount. They had assumed $ 35.76 billion.
Earnings per share, which is a very important indicator in the US, was significantly above analysts’ expectations. They had 1.54 on the bill. Microsoft, however, delivered $ 1.82 after 1.38 in the same period last year.
However, the first quarter numbers did not generate much applause for the title. After the share had already recorded an increase of around 1.5% in regular trading, it is 0.5% higher in after-hours trading.
