People in California, Oregon and Washington have spotted what some call the “most amazing” fireball they have ever seen. The fireball, which was a meteor that hit the atmosphere, entered the scene on the evening of October 23. Hundreds of people witnessed the phenomenon, rushing to the International Meteorological Organization (IMO) to report their sighting.
David told IMO: “It was incredible.”
Debra detailed her experience, saying, “The falling object was so green and dramatic that I started yelling at the passenger in my car – ‘oh, my God – look, look at that …’
“Then I saw it break into pieces and I kept looking to what extent my passenger was helping me to drive.
“Then I wondered if it could be a firework, but I was sure it was a meteor, I went home and started checking the computer for other reports. It was definitely green.”
Julie said: “I was in my vehicle and I happened to be directly in front of me rapidly descending over the horizon.
“For a second or two it was almost as bright as the full moon.”
Marcia said: “In my 63-year life of frequent observation of stars and meteorites, observation of comets, I have NEVER seen anything approaching this size.
“At first I almost thought it was the full moon, but it’s a crescent moon and this one was bigger, burning and falling.

The air penetrates into the pores of the rock, pushing it away and causing it to explode.
The IMO said: “Fireballs are meteors that appear brighter than normal. Due to the speed with which they hit the Earth’s atmosphere, fragments larger than a millimeter have the ability to produce a bright flash as they travel through the skies above.
“These bright meteors are what we call fireballs and often arouse fear and amazement for those who witness them.”
