Believing that education is the cornerstone of progress in Arab countries and societies and one of the most important foundations of Arab national security, the Arab Parliament has prepared a “Document for the Development of Education in the Arab World” as a reference document for the development of education in Arab countries with the aim of establishing a high-quality Arab education system and skilled education frameworks capable of Preparing a distinct and creative generation who possess the knowledge and skills necessary for future jobs and are able to advance his society and contribute to the advancement of his country, increase the percentage of education expenditure from the national product, provide the necessary needs for the educational process and continually review current curricula and teaching methods, keep pace with global development and using the latest educational means and connecting educational outcomes with needs and requirements d el labor market.
The “Document on the development of education in the Arab world” aims to provide appropriate solutions to improve the quality of education in the Arab world and to prepare modern and advanced educational curricula based on the concepts of creativity, innovation and constructive critical thinking, support research scientific and improve the competitiveness of Arab educational institutions, as well as the exchange of experience between Arab countries In the field of reform, development and advancement of education in all its stages and fields.
In light of the negative repercussions caused by the Corona pandemic in Arab countries and throughout the world in recent months, distance learning has become one of the main solutions that many Arab countries have resorted to to adapt to the new reality that this pandemic has produced. The “Document on the development of education in the Arab world” has paid great attention to distance education and has devoted an entire axis to it as it is one of the options for providing education, which requires the provision of a modern technological infrastructure, the creation of controls and the enactment of new laws, the preparation and training of teachers and learners on this new type of education and the provision of the environment. The educational incentive for him is linked to an advanced service system.
And based on the belief that the development of the education system begins with a good preparation of the teacher and the acquisition of modern teaching skills, the document is concerned with preparing the teacher and his professional and educational development and the multiple skills of it needs to keep up with intellectual, cognitive and technological developments.
And given the importance of discussing the document with educational decision makers in Arab countries, today Wednesday 6 Safar 1442 AH corresponding to 23 September 2020, a meeting of education ministers in the Arab world will be held to discuss the “Document for the development of education in the Arab world “hosted by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia led by Dr. Hamad Al Sheikh, Minister of Education, and the participation of Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States and Director General of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO). There is no doubt that the exchange of views between those responsible for the educational process in Arab countries regarding this document will enrich it and add more important practical aspects based on the different educational experiences in Arab countries. The Arab Parliament will review this document in the light of the observations and recommendations that will emerge from the meeting.
The hospitality of the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this important Arab ministerial meeting coincides with the celebration of the 90th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is a good opportunity to enhance the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of support and development of education in its various phases, in light of the numerous initiatives, steps and specific programs that Saudi Arabia has undertaken to modernize its educational system, including the Lifelong Learning Initiative, which is one of the of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, which managed to reduce the illiteracy rate to less than 6.5%, by employing modern technology in the educational process, by qualifying and training specialized educational staff, by updating curricula and by using artificial intelligence techniques. Which has won the praises of many international organizations and the creation of advanced Saudi universities containing all qualitative disciplines has been able to lead the international rankings and be among the most prestigious universities in the world.
In conclusion, the process of education development in Arab countries is an inevitable and urgent necessity that must be started and not delayed. There is no rebirth, progress and economic growth without advanced education. Therefore, the Arab Parliament worked on the preparation of a “Document for the Development of Education in the Arab World” as an Arab reference document which includes the fundamental pillars and principles governing the development of education in Arab countries.
