Today, Sept. 8, Litecoin (LTC) got its new Litecoin Core v0.16.2 which got some interesting changes, performance improvements, bug fixes and more. The announcement was made on the Medium blog page and on the official Twitter page of the Litecoin project.
In the release note of the new Litecoin Core v0.16.2, there is some information on the new modifications and improvements of this new Litecoin (LTC) protocol update. As a result, the new version of the protocol brings compatibility improvements and some changes to the size of the miner block as well as some bug fixes.
However, despite the corrections and heavy testing of the new version, developers have warned about the possibility of some bugs.
Momentarily, Litecoin Core v0.16.2 is compatible with macOS 10.8, Linux Kernel, Windows Vista and later versions. According to the release note, Windows XP is no longer compatible. Subsequently, the Litecoin (LTC) team would like to release a version for Unix-based systems.

The first significant change introduced by Litecoin Core v0.16.2 is the removal of the size of the miners blockade. While in version 0.15.1 miners could add the command line "-blockmaxsize" but were disappointed by the function, the new v0.16.2 completely removed that functionality.
In addition, users were interviewed on Twitter by Charlie Lee, the founder of Litecoin (LTC), on which the integration of the privacy protocol would be the most popular choice. As a result, the Litecoin community had to choose between Private Transactions, ZK-Snarks / ZK-Starks, MimbleWimble and no privacy. The majority voted for reserved transactions.
Also, this week, the Litecoin (LTC) team has also released the support of Casa LN Node for Litecoin's blockchain, which is contributing to the LTC Lightning network. Support will be implemented by the end of the year.
In the meantime, members of the Litecoin community will be able to enjoy the new Litecoin Core v0.16.2.
