IoT – blockchain-powered platform IOTA has announced the imminent release of real-world integration with the automaker Volkswagen. The Digital CarPass, set to be released in 2019, will see performance data tracked using the IOTA blockchain technology to ensure that vehicle data collection is reliable and secure.

The Digital CarPass was announced by the head of Volkswagen's Blockchain Benjamin Sinram at "Ecomotion" Smart Mobility meets the Blockchain Technologies event "in Tel Aviv last week.

Vehicle manufacturers focus on Blockchain

The Digital CarPass project is the main point of cooperation between IOTA and Volkswagen, revealed as proof of the concept at the start of this year at Cebit 2018. L & Initiative unveiled at Cebit, focused on providing software for trusted vehicles over the air through the network Tangle the new CarPass project is aimed at capturing reliable data from Volkswagen vehicles in order to improve the efficiency.

Sinram, speaking in Tel Aviv, said that Volkswagen wants to integrate IOTA blockchain technology to allow users to provide new services and pay them independently. In addition to working on the Volkswagen / IOTA CarPass Digital project, Sinram works on blockchain integration with the Porsche luxury sports subsidiary and the Volkswagen financial services business.

The IOTA habilitation of Volkswagen CarPass is one of the five blockchain initiatives currently under development by the vehicle manufacturer. Sinram says that Porsche is currently developing a blockchain-based identity solution that will allow more people to share vehicle access. Other Volkswagen projects include a supply chain-oriented open ledger that will cover vehicle parts from manufacturer to customer, as well as a "charging protocol" that leverages technology Ethereum .

By integrating blockchain technology into Volkswagen vehicles, says Sinram, it allows the manufacturer to test the current software version of a vehicle in an accident, providing public evidence of data integrity.

The IOTA development clashes with the beta version of Trinity Desktop

Following the release of the Trinity mobile portfolio at the start of this year, IOTA announced the release of the portfolio beta by Trinity Desktop . The new portfolio for desktops derives from the mobile wallet by Trinity but is optimized for desktop use, offering a range of simplified lines.

In addition to the release of the new portfolio of the desktop the IOTA is making significant progress in promoting the adoption of the blockchain Tangle which recently led a week-long sprint of Google Design with Audi Think Tank Audi Denkwerkstatt for create a low-level prototype of a mobility ecosystem without authorization.
