The government of Abu Dhabi is reflecting on the role of the blockchain in the future of the country.

In December, the government hosted a blockchain seminar dedicated to the opportunities and challenges of blockchain technology, organized by the experts of Berkeley Research Group and OpenLedger.

The initiative is anchored in the strategic plans of the development of Abu Dhabi shared by more than 20 representatives of different government agencies. The emirate sees the potential in the implementation of blockchain technology and in fostering the growth of leading industries and improving the lives of people in the United Arab Emirates.

Michael Jelen, a director of BRG, argues that the use of blockchain technology in the digitalisation of social and financial services in Abu Dhabi is still under study.

"Blockchain is an interesting option that can have a revolutionary effect on the development of Abu Dhabi, strengthening its leadership in the international arena and influencing people's lives. The government has not yet made a clear commitment and is still exploring all the options, "said Jelen.

The Abu Dhabi government authorities examined the presentation prepared by OpenLedger, one of the leaders in the development of customized blockchain solutions. One of the main provisions of the proposal included a roadmap that involves the use of blockchain technology for digital identity, fund distribution and freight transport.

Berkeley Research Group, LLC is a strategic consultancy and consulting firm that advises Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, major law firms and regulatory bodies around the world. OpenLedger ApS offers customized blockchain solutions for business partners.
