Where other cryptocurrencies have increased in recent days, EOS has been slower than recently, until today. Now the EOS price has risen more than 8% in the last 24 hours.
On December 17, 2018, EOS showed a substantial recovery reaching gains of 35% before stabilizing between December 18 and today. Now EOS is moving again.
Evaluation index of China's global public blockchain technology
Sometimes the reasons for the sudden popularity of a currency are not clear, other times it is just about market movements, as traders see an opportunity to buy and trigger an outburst of interest.
Today's interest in EOS could be more net. The blockchain and the currency are Chinese children. On December 21st, the Chinese Center for the Development of Information and Industry (CCID), under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the Country, published its GlobalBacchain Technology Assessment Index (GPBTAI). EOS is at the top of this list with 156 points ahead of Ethereum, in second position, at 136. Bitcoin is at the bottom of the list in 18th place with a score of 96.
Has this really influenced the EOS excursion? It may be probable that as news arrives at the markets, even other blockchain appearing well on the list are seeing strong price increases since the index was published.
GXchain stole the third place in the blockharin index of BitShares with a score of 117. Even its currency, GXS, has increased, showing a 24-hour increase of almost 5%. GXchain is 104th cryptocurrency by market capitalization. BitShares (BTS) is currently 44th by market capitalization and although it has risen by just over 2% in the last 24 hours, it does not show any of the most marked increases in EOS or GXchain.
Komodo (KMD), Ontology (ONT), NULS (NULS), Nebulas (NAS), NEO (NEO) and Steem (STEEM) are also the favorites of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Of these, the Ontology blockchain was included for the first time in the index and the ONT price rose soon thereafter, showing an increase of close to 7% in the last 24 hours. Another popular blockchain in China and the world, NEO, has also seen its price increase today and rises by almost 14% in the last 24 hours.
With Ethereum's blockchain still in third place in China, the list may have also helped ETH's performance. ETH is still up 13% in the last 24 hours and 46% in the last seven days. Analysts have noted that ETH has recorded a record number of short films on trading platforms and in the seven days beginning December 16, ETH has recovered 66%.
