In Beijing, an alliance for the protection of media rights has been established to provide copyright protection services using blockchain technology, according to the International Finance News of the Chinese state of 19 December.
The newly established alliance – the "China Financial Media Alliance for Copyright Protection" – involves over 30 major financial media such as International Finance News, Economic Information Daily, China Business News, Beijing Business Daily and Daily Economic News, among the others.
The alliance aims to provide "reasonable authorization systems, improve authorized transaction mechanisms, strengthen self-regulation of industry copyright and develop copyright cooperation in the industry." Qi Huisheng, secretary of the former Communist Party group of the Association of Chinese journalists said:
"Journalists and newspapers should establish copyright awareness, solve common problems in copyright protection through technology and other means, and actively communicate with competent technical teams to protect the original copyright …"
International Finance News reports that the alliance will use blockchain technology "to provide an original authentication and copyright protection for original works." The Alliance aims to use technology to "incorporate the unique" DNA "identifier into the article." As long as the article maintains a 70 percent similarity, whether it is transferred via social media or various websites, the "DNA" may presumably be traced back to the original:
"… once an infraction is discovered, the technological platform will immediately get proof".
In June, an association of over 100 mainstream media established the "Global Media Blockchain Alliance" in Hong Kong, with the goal of providing high quality information on the blockchain industry to the public and creating a " environment of healthy public opinion ".
Last month, 54 different Chinese companies covering blockchain technology in finance and commerce formed the Blockchain Alliance of Guangdong District, Hong Kong and Macao Dawan. The new group will presumably promote innovation and jointly develop blockchain technology within the country.
