LinkedIn's annual report on jobs suggests that demand is growing for blockchain developers …
Just a week or two, the news has again bubbled that Facebook continued to be interested in blockchain technology, taking more staff for its blockchain project (or at least advertising for them). Not alone. While some companies continue to resist the idea of cryptocurrencies and digital currencies, the blockchain is more widely resumed.
So much so that in its annual report on emerging jobs, the social media and networking site LinkedIn has named "blockchain developer" as the fastest-growing employment position in the last 12 months. In 2018, LinkedIn reports that the position had been recruited 33 times more than in the previous year.
To put that level of growth into some kind of context, the next list on the LinkedIn table was Machine Learning Engineer. This was the biggest growth job on Linked in 2017, but in 2018 it grew by a slower 12x. Blockchain, as you can see, is accelerating a lot, much faster.
LinkedIn reports a wave of blockchain and cryptocurrency, although it makes sure that time will tell if the role of the blockchain developer continues to hold and be more of a long-standing trend.
If you are thinking about giving a test of blockchain development in the next year, LinkedIn reports that the best skills required are "Solidity, Blockchain, Ethereum, Cryptocurrency, Node.js", while IBM, ConsenSys and Chainyard seem to be the most employers notable Americans in the field.
