The telecommunications authority of India completes blockchain pilots: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has completed a series of blockchain pilot projects to improve the functionality of the mobile network system, including mobile number portability (MNP) and the Do Not Call (DNC) registry. Completed in association with IBM, the move is in contrast to the country's stop-go action on cryptocurrencies in which the regulation has been blocked in judicial battles and bureaucracy for several months.
Hyperledger brings the main Asian actors: Hyperledger, the global open source project that works to advance blockchain cross-industry technologies, has added, among others, Alibaba Cloud, Guangzhou Technology Innovation, KEB Hana Bank and Techrock (formerly Walimai) to its already impressive member roster. The organization, which aims to provide industry-specific applications, platforms and hardware systems, was launched in December 2015 by the Linux Foundation and has been strongly supported by major industry players such as IBM, Intel and SAP.
Shenzhen and Tencent create a blockchain tax platform: The Municipal Tax Office of Shenzhen and Tencent reported having connected a blockchain billing platform with the technology giant's WeChat payment platform. It is estimated that WeChat, the sprawling app of Tencent that connects users to anything from shopping to social messaging, exceeds one billion users.
The automatic executives think that the blockchain will be great: An IBM Institute for Business Value report interviewed 1,314 automotive executives in 10 functional areas and 10 countries. The report found that 62% of respondents believe that blockchain would be a disruptive force in the automotive industry within three years, while 54% expect new business models to influence blockchain investments. Over 50% have also stated that they will implement their first large-scale commercial blockchain network within the next three years.
