Cypherpunk Scott Stornetta spoke about the quotes Satoshi Nakamoto "generously" did in his Bitcoin whitepaper, in an interview with Naomi Brockwell.
He also clarified that he admired Satoshi Nakamoto's effort, which introduced the ripples in the financial system and the payments sector as a whole, but also criticized on the white paper.
Stornetta explained how when he worked at Xerox PARC with Stuart Haber, a cryptologist, he had the idea of creating an unchanging disk that would not change or depend on a third party.
He also clarified that it was not Satoshi Nakamoto, although his work was mentioned three times in seven references available in the white paper and that he was a missionary in Japan for three years.
As a crypto-libertarian himself, Stornetta said that Satoshi Nakamoto got the "ball on the net". He added:
"… it's not perfect but it's good enough we have something and so I think … it's not because Satoshi has made all the right decisions is that he has enough of them right".
Stornetta went on to say that although in the '80s there were many items that aimed to do what Satoshi Nakamoto intended to do, they failed and Satoshi's idea / idea was an' idea enough good "to start the party".
Continuing further, Stornetta criticized:
"… the brilliant work that Satoshi has done, the difficulty we have of course is that there is a huge speculative bubble that has occurred and may or may not have dissipated … so it is moving slowly towards the service as a viable system, yet all of these problems with the scalability caused in my opinion by our fixation with the wrong decentralization of the governance and the keeping of the registers with the decentralization of the calculation "
He went on to say that the Bitcoin-based Lightning network could solve some of these downsizing problems and said that the winner, be it Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, should tackle the scalability problem that most cryptocurrencies have.
