30 experts to help in the nationwide implementation of blockchain

On 20 September, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) published a public notice for the formation of a group of 30 experts in the encrypted field. This group would be responsible for the development of a national strategy for the integration of blockchain and distribution accounting technologies (DLT). The MISE has now recently, the 27th^th December, revealed the members of this group.

The team covers a broad pool of skills, including people like Angiolini Giorgio, who heads the marketing portfolio at the telecommunications equipment company, Italtel, and a member of the United Nations blockchain development group. Other notable members are Cirillo Monica, financial lawyer and president of the National Commission for Research and Technological Innovation Blockchain – Smart Contract; Vitale Marco, who is the president of the Blockchain Studio Quadrans Foundation; and Giustozzi Lorenzo, the president of the Blockchain Edu Association.

According to the September press release of the MISE, it is the task of this crack unit to first identify the practices that make use of the DLT and their spread of influence within the country. They must therefore promote and research the use of these technologies so that they become even more accessible to the Italian public. They will do it by creating what will be called a national blockchain strategy. Once formed, it will be revealed to the public and subjected to open consultation.

This move comes after a joint statement, signed at the start of this year from Italy and six other European nations, which promises the government promotion of blockchain technology:
