Ulleung Airport is an airport operated by small aircraft with 50 passengers or fewer, with a total project cost of 6651 billion won. A 1200 m class runway and a passenger terminal will be built.
The Ulleung Airport Construction Project completed a preliminary feasibility study in 2013 and announced the base plan in 2015, the base project in 2017, the new Pohang-Ulleung air route was established in May 2019 and the total cost of the project was confirmed. In December, the Daelim Industrial Consortium selected qualified candidates for detailed design, followed by detailed design, and signed a contract in July this year.
Through bidding for core design technology proposals, Ulleung Airport is a secure airport that handles precise instrumentation procedures and minimizes cancellation rates, a multifunctional airport that encompasses the public and private sector, a guard airport which is robust even in waves of over 250 years, and the durability of the structure and the stability of the foundation are strengthened. It will build a solid airport and an airport that coexists with local residents.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport implemented a small project to build an airport in the islands in the “ 4th global medium and long-term airport development plan ” in 2011 in order to connect the island areas where the construction of the Yeonryuk bridge is impossible and the use of distant sea roads is inevitable with the land more safely and conveniently.
