Dortmund are looking forward to the next Bundesliga match on November 21 at Hertha BSC – because then child prodigy Youssoufa Moukoko could finally celebrate his professional debut after a long wait!

The super striker will turn 16 the day before and should then appear in the German upper house (report: Bundesliga calendar).

Reminder: Earlier in the year, BVB had made a special application to the DFL because of Moukoko, according to which a player can play after age 16 – successfully!

In reality, Moukoko would currently be on the road with the U19 national team, but junior matches have all been canceled due to the corona pandemic.

“Matches in the youth sector are still canceled until the end of the month,” explains BVB sporting director Michael Zorc in an interview. SPORT1. “Youssoufa trained for the last time with the youngsters. But now he’s back completely with the pros – and for the moment he is.”

BVB is looking for an apartment for Moukoko

The German-Cameroonian, brought to Switzerland by Lucien Favre during his summer retreat, is now an integral part of the Bundesliga team. To keep it that way, it will also have to move soon.

How SPORT1 learned, Moukoko should leave the boarding school. Reason: The risk of corona infection is too high. In the BVB youth center, Moukoko is inevitably in contact with his peers who – unlike the professionals – are not regularly tested for the virus.

Borussia therefore looks for an apartment of its own for its super talent. The relocation would mean additional organizational work for BVB in the future. After all, Moukoko would need his supervisor to check that everything was okay every day.

Moukoko’s focus these days is completely on the Hertha game. The ambitious striker subordinates everything to his big dream. Zorc slows down the euphoria a bit: “I don’t know if he’s already playing a role. At the moment the hype around him is pretty big. We won’t feed him more and more.”

Watzke praises super talent

The head of the BVB, Hans-Joachim Watzke, recently spoke enthusiastically about Moukoko. The highly talented striker has “the goal gene, regardless of whether you do three or four stalls with the U19, if you do them regularly, you have the gene at some point,” the 61-year-old told Sky.

“That’s ideal, Erling (Erling Haaland, d.Red.) He usually plays, and if there’s a chance he needs a break, the coach might try Youssoufa.”

Moukoko’s numbers are impressive. In the junior area, he recently shot everything in the ground. The power reaches 134 goals in 79 Bundesliga games for Dortmund U17 and U19. In his last eleven league games alone, Moukoko has consistently scored and scored 26 goals.

That’s why they can’t wait for November 21 to arrive at the BVB.
