The fifth and final episode of Night City Wire, the official livestream of Cyberpunk 2077, has already aired, with great emphasis on Keanu Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand. In addition to the actor, the episode also focused on the game’s soundtrack and how the characters were animated.
Johnny Silverhand is a central figure in Cyberpunk 2077, and CD Projekt Red pretty much regards him as the game’s co-star. Played by Keanu Reeves, in addition to being a rock star, he is also a former military man and throughout Cyberpunk 2077 will drag players on various adventures.
CDPR considered several alternatives to bring Silverhand to life before launching Keanu on paper, including rock band singers. Interestingly, the Polish studio even considered bringing an artist from the dead, although they didn’t reveal who.
Keanu Reeves isn’t the only famous voice in the game: Cyberpunk 2077 has a luxurious soundtrack, filled with countless big names in the current music scene, from hip-hop to punk, electronic music to post-hardcore, in a panoply of sounds. Across the various Cyberpunk 2077 radio stations, players will be able to enjoy exclusive music from Converge, The Armed, Run The Jewels, Grimes, Nina Kraviz, Gazelle Twin and Rat Boy. The studio has already released a small sample of the soundtrack on various streaming services.
Also in the music chapter, Cyberpunk 2077 has a feature built with streamers in mind, which automatically deactivates copyrighted songs, in order to avoid DMCA lawsuits. This tool can be activated or deactivated manually.
The episode also addressed the procedural animation technology used by the studio, JALI, which produced impressive results, considering that all NPCs in the game will have facial animations corresponding to the 10 available languages.
Finally, the standard edition of Cyberpunk 2077 includes several digital bonuses: a book with the art of the game, the original soundtrack and a comic. Additionally, there are also a number of rewards that can be redeemed if players link their GOG accounts to the game, which includes a leather jacket with the Witcher logo.
Anxiety is growing for one of the most anticipated titles ever, with a release date set for December 10th.
