Since it will take some time before all the content on Instagram is re-indexed in this way, in the first phase the feature was introduced in English-speaking countries, USA, Canada, Great Britain and many other territories.

In an interview with The Verge, the Instagram spokesperson insisted that the information on which the new search results are based comes from several sources. First of all, let’s talk about when a post was created and the description associated with it. Second, artificial intelligence algorithms scan photos and videos on Instagram to see if what you “see” is in line with what you are looking for. Ultimately, the goal seems to be to show you “the best quality content that is relevant to you”.

To avoid fueling conspiracies, there will be some searches that don’t work on Instagram via the new update. For example, QAnon or the vaccine do not produce results.
