Yamaha e-Vino: Yamaha electric moped confirms its launch and its price – Electric motorcycles – Hybrid and electric

Intense days in media terms for the Japanese company Yamaha, we still talk about it one day after learning of the launch of its new electric scooter, the Yamaha e-Wine, an urban-style scooter e retro look trying to gain a foothold in the Japanese market before the Vespa Elettrica reaches its local market.

Just yesterday we were talking about the possibility that a Yamaha T-MAX hybrid was being developed at Yamaha headquarters, following the escape from the Japanese patent office of a hybrid scheme applied to one of their scooters, which indicates that, in the next few years, we will probably see Yamaha’s most famous scooter as a sport scooter, yes, but a hybrid.

Today the protagonist is another, the e-Wine, which, like the Peugeot E-Ludix, takes the basis of the thermal version to give life to an electric scooter that focuses on eminently urban use. It was 2018 when Yamaha gave the first clues about the electrification of the Yamaha Vino, and it took two years to confirm that it will finally hit the streets, although for now its commercial activity will be limited to the local market only, the Japanese.

The specifications that the Yamaha e-Vino brings with it could be classified initially as moderate, but it should not be ignored that this is a scooter that was not conceived from the beginning as an electric scooter, so the limitations when electrifying the Yamaha Vino result in lower performance, yes, but also in a price that in the case of an electric Yamaha we can consider affordable, given that for the Japanese market a price of 259,600 yen is proposed, which converted into euros is little more than 2,100 euros.

In exchange for such a fee, we will have an electric scooter with which we can travel up to 29 kilometers in its version with a single battery, 500 Wh, which could be increased to 58 if we choose to equip the double battery, with a capacity of 1000 Wh. In exchange for such a short range, the Yamaha e-Vino will need only 3 hours to charge the removable battery one hundred percent, so that for many users it will be possible to enjoy the full charge at the start of daily trips on most occasions, as it can be charged while we work or overnight one hundred percent.

The maximum speed of the Yamaha e-Vino will be 45 kilometers per hour thanks to its 1.2 kW electric motor, so we are talking about an electric scooter that would enter the moped segment.

As Ride Apart points out, there are real chances that e-Wine will reach Europe, ever since Yamaha applied to the European Patent Office in 2018 for the design registration of its e-Vino, so we must not rule out his arrival in the old continent.
