Xiaomi shows a smartphone with a large aperture telescopic lens

The founder and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, loves to make known the innovations, or developments, planned by the company she leads. So, now in a new publication on the Weibo social network, he presented a telescopic lens extendable for use on smartphones.

For some, this is nothing new, as it has already been seen on the Galaxy Zoom, but for others it may be new. Some people may even think about what a classic compact digital camera looks like. Anyone who remembers these solutions knows how much space they take up, which, of course, is also reflected in the size of the device. However, this does not seem to be the case on this Xiaomi smartphone, or at least, it seems to reveal it in the video shared by Lei Jun, which we can see below.

Will Xiaomi use a telescopic lens on its smartphones?

According to information published by the company itself, the technology used has two great advantages: it is possible to install a large lens, which allows “300 percent more” of the incidence of light. Also, the image should be up to “20% clearer” with stabilization technologies.

At the moment, larger sensors are being used more and more frequently in the smartphone industry, which provide better results even in the dark and also guarantee a nice effect bokeh Natural. This is accompanied by an increasing projection of the camera, so there are probably limits to accommodating the appropriate optics. A possible solution: this is shown by Xiaomi.

I confess that I am very curious to know if Xiaomi’s solution will be based on a variable aperture, because unfortunately we still have many doubts about the details of this camera.

However, be aware that the technology is still under development. But the fact that it is already showing in which direction smartphone camera development is heading, didn’t surprise me that this would come out soon.
