The COVID pandemic has led to some drops in smartphone sales, and although some companies are growing, the trend still remains lower than in previous years.

According to data from the company Gartner, sales in the smartphone market in the third quarter of 2020 fell by about 5.7% compared to the same period in 2019. However, these values are up when we compare the immediately preceding periods – and during the pandemic, especially for companies like Xiaomi and Samsung.

Among the companies that have recorded the greatest growth in sales are Samsung and Xiaomi. Samsung continues to lead the market, with a share of 22% and over 80 million units sold. Xiaomi, in turn, has a 112.1% market share and over 44 million units sold.

Among all the companies, Xiaomi is still one of the fastest growing companies, around 34.9% from the previous year.

Huawei maintains the second position in the ranking, with a share of 14.1% and over 51 million units sold, which however represents a growth decline of 21.3%.

Eventually, the market recorded more than 366 million units of smartphones sold.
