Xiaomi Mi Band 5 could receive a temperature monitoring function; More wearable devices are coming

If in the current context of the pandemic the oximeter on fitness watches and bracelets is useful, another function that would be welcome is to temperature measurement. It seems that this is exactly what we are preparing, judging by the information received on the web regarding the Xiaomi Mi Band 5.

Source code discovered in the companion application Xiaomi seems to indicate it in the future we will receive a skin temperature measurement. Fitbit has so far stood out with this feature, which is also available on the Sense laptop we have in test. AndroidTR dug into the source code of Xiaomi applications and discovered hints of temperature measurement, which is compared to that taken with external devices.

Comparisons are made with classic digital thermometers and other devices that measure temperature. All for the sake of accuracy, which is very important. Tests are currently underway on Mi Band 2, Mi Band 3, Mi Band 5, Mi Band 5 and Amazfit Band 5. Sure, none of the devices have a dedicated body temperature sensor, as does Fitbit Sense, though. Xiaomi could use current optical sensors or calibrate the devices using thermometers and then provide the necessary benchmarks.

Furthermore, in the source code there is the possibility to load in the application the temperature measurements with other devices, to see graphs and the temperature evolution, all with details and explanations.
