One of the major events on the WWE calendar is set to return as the 2020 Survivor series approaches. Despite winning the night at last year’s event, however, the NXT brand will not be taking part in the Survivor series celebrations. This year, the Survivor Series event will return in the Raw vs. SmackDown as the battle for core brand supremacy rages.
Champions from each brand will face off in a series of standard matches and, of course, we will be offered a couple of iconic Survivor Series elimination matches, one featuring men of each brand and another highlighting women. It’s a night of one-of-a-kind pairings just months before WWE hits Road to WrestleMania.
The Survivor Series will take place on Sunday November 22 from the ThunderDome inside the Amway Center in Orlando. The pay-per-view will begin at 7pm ET following a one-hour kickoff show starting at 6pm, with both streaming live on WWE Network.

Roman Reigns (Universal Champion) vs Randy Orton (WWE Champion): Like most games on paper, this happens strictly due to the brand champion and event brand champion layout. Orton won the WWE championship from Drew McIntyre to Hell in a Cell after several failed attempts to beat McIntyre in the previous months. On the November 16 edition of Raw, Orton will defend his title – and a place in the Survivor Series – against McIntyre. Reigns returned to action at SummerSlam and won the universal title at Payback, defeating Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. Reigns has shown a very dark side since his return and now Jey Uso serves his needs after defeating him in Hell in a Cell and forcing him to “get in line”. Choice: Roman Reigns wins
Raw Men’s Team (Keith Lee, AJ Styles, Sheamus, Braun Strowman and Riddle) vs. SmackDown Men’s Team (Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, King Corbin, Seth Rollins, 1 TBD): Lee, Styles, Strowman and Sheamus cemented their places on Raw’s men’s team by scoring victories in qualifying matches. Riddle took a second hit to qualify and beat Jeff Hardy and Elias in a triple threat match to secure the final spot. Lee, Strowman and Sheamus as counter attacks combined with Styles and Riddle’s technique and speed have created Team Raw as a strong group, although there are some internal tensions that plague the team. The SmackDown squad joined Owens and Uso as early qualifiers – although they had significant problems at SmackDown on November 6 – and Corbin and Rollins joined the fold.
Raw Women’s Team (Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Mandy Rose, Dana Brooke and Lana) vs SmackDown Women’s Team (Bianca Belair, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, 2 TBD): In the October 26 edition of Raw, the first four female team members for the Raw side were announced as Rose and Brooke along with tag champions Jax and Baszler. Fifth place was up for grabs in a fatal quad between Lana, Lacey Evans, Nikki Cross and Peyton Royce, with Lana taking advantage of the other three women clashing to earn her place on the team. SmackDown hasn’t formed a team yet. Belair was the first to secure her spot and Riott swooped down to score a three-way win with Natalya and Zelina Vega. Morgan won a fatal four-way against Chelsea Green, Tamina and Natalya to secure his spot.
Asuka (Raw Women’s Champion) vs Sasha Banks (SmackDown Women’s Champion): Another champion versus champion game, which we have seen several times over the past few months. Banks won the Raw women’s title from Asuka in July, only to have Asuka regain her belt at SummerSlam the following month. Banks then returned to SmackDown, where she eventually won the women’s SmackDown title from Bayley within Hell in a Cell and successfully defended the title against Bayley in the November 6 edition of SmackDown. Banks and Asuka may not be a cool couple, but the duo always offers high-quality pairings. Choice: Asuka wins
The Street Profits (SmackDown tag team champions) vs The New Day (Raw tag team champions): Raw Tag Champions New Day and SmackDown Tag Champions Street Profits actually switched brands in the recent WWE Draft. The two teams then exchanged title belts to align with their new homes while maintaining their champion status. This is the first time ever – assuming WWE doesn’t somehow run a form of it before pay-per-view – and it has the potential to be the best tag match held in a WWE ring in 2020 if given the time to live up to the potential. Choice: the new day wins
Bobby Lashley (US Champion) vs Sami Zayn (Intercontinental Champion): Intercontinental champion Zayn returned to action in September, fighting for his first game since March. Sidelined due to his worries about COVID-19, Zayn was stripped of the title but won it again in a wild straight game at Clash of Champions. Lashley won the US title from Apollo Crews to Payback and has remained dominant ever since, although his focus has mostly been on his role in The Hurt Business and their ongoing issues with Retribution. Choice: Sami Zayn wins
Appearance of the entrepreneur: The show was originally advertised as a “30th anniversary celebration of The Undertaker,” so it already seemed almost like a guarantee that we’ll see him make an appearance at the event. WWE has since confirmed that the event will feature an Undertaker appearance for a “Final Farewell”, which will apparently officially end his career where it all started 30 years ago after several semi-retreats.
