– Late Friday evening, the market leader surprisingly announced the dismissal of Zelina Vega. The wife of SmackDown superstar Aleister Black and longtime partner of Andrade has been under WWE contract since June 2017. As part of the 2018 “Superstar Shake-Up”, she was drafted into the main roster by NXT alongside Andrade. Shortly before the official WWE communiqué was released, Vega posted the words “I support the unions” on Twitter.

According to PWInsider, however, this post had nothing to do with the Vegas layoff, which should have been determined in advance. The 29-year-old had already expressed her interest in a union in recent weeks, after WWE introduced a new regulation regarding WWE Superstar agreements with third parties. Like many other WWE superstars, Vega has a successful Twitch channel that she should have given up under the new rules. As PWInsider reports now, their attitude towards the new regulation was also the reason for the termination. According to sources within the company, Thea Trinidad Budgen, Vegas’s real name, made it clear that she would keep her Twitch account. It is believed that with his dismissal they wanted to send a signal to other superstars dissatisfied with the decision.
Wrestlevotes also reports that there is more to the dismissal of Zelina Vega. Mutual frustration is an understatement and the disagreement between the two sides has grown. He goes on to say, while this isn’t directly related to Zelina’s departure, that Aleister Black recently asked to be allowed back to NXT. However, this request was not granted to him and therefore Zelina Vega’s husband is currently still part of the Smackdown roster. It is not known whether he will also leave the company in the near future.
– Yesterday’s edition of “Friday Night Smackdown” made NXT talent Chelsea Green’s surprising debut on the main roster. The 29-year-old was added to the Survivor Series qualifier match between Liv Morgan, Natalya and Tamina, making her first match under the blue brand. As previously suspected by PWInsider, WWE has now confirmed that Green suffered a wrist injury in this match. As a result, Green broke her wrist and was taken to a local hospital for further tests. She denounced herself shortly after with a photo of the hospital and was carefree.
