Why some iOS developers prefer not to offer iOS applications for Apple Silicon Macs

Apple in the US will launch new Macs equipped with the Apple Silicon chip based on the iPhone chip. This means that these Macs could, in theory, run iOS mobile applications. Unfortunately, some iOS developers have given up on this.

The company will be unveiling its first Apple Silicon Macs today. This is quite interesting, although there are some ambiguities, such as compatibility and software availability.

The US company has taken some steps to facilitate this transition, such as enabling mobile applications to run on Apple Silicon chips and also providing tools to allow developers to create software for the new chip.

Unfortunately, however, the 9to5Mac news revealed that before the announcement of the new Apple Silicon Macs, some iOS app developers ditched the Mac App Store.

This suggests that many known iOS apps will not be compatible with macOS at launch. For those who are confused, developers are offered the option of providing iOS applications for Mac with Apple Silicon chips.

This means that early adopters of new computers could run native iOS applications on their Macs. However, if developers give up, there will be fewer mobile software options for end users to choose from.

That doesn’t mean that developers aren’t confident in Apple’s plan to reduce its reliance on Intel. As 9to5Mac notes, it is possible that these developers do not believe that their iOS applications will work as they should on macOS and may not be stable on this operating system.
