The list of people at risk of Covid-19 has been expanded, who can therefore benefit from part-time work. A decree to this effect was published on Wednesday 11 November in the Official Journal and enters into force on Thursday 12 November.

This list comes at a time when the government ended its exceptional compensation scheme on September 1 for workers vulnerable to the coronavirus, who could benefit from certificates of isolation and partial unemployment.

They are therefore all considered to be at risk people aged 65 or over, but also those who suffer from itan “unbalanced diabetes”, from neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis or various types of paralysis, from “progressive cancer in treatment (excluding hormone therapy)”. The same goes for people who have a history of cardiovascular disease, one respiratory pathology such as “severe asthma” or cystic fibrosis or those with ” stage B cirrhosis“. Finally, the obese people they are also considered vulnerable, as well as pregnant women, from the third trimester of pregnancy.

Telework, reinforced measures or partial unemployment

If these people cannot “take full advantage of teleworking”, their employer will have to provide for them “enhanced protection measures”, such as a single office or a furnished workstation. Working hours will also need to be adjusted to “avoid rush hour” and surgical masks will be provided.

If these protective measures cannot be guaranteed, employees at risk of coronavirus can ask to be placed in partial activity, “upon presentation to the employer of a certificate drawn up by a doctor”, indicates the decree.

In case of disagreement, the occupational doctor will be referred to and the employee will be placed in partial activity “pending” his opinion, assures the government.

On Wednesday, the National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions (Unsa) welcomed the decree in a statement but regretted the absence of “measures for people living under the same roof”. The union believes that employees who have a frail person at home should be able to benefit from the same measures.
