The Microsoft Edge browser was introduced with Windows 10 and started being preferred by users with its release. When Microsoft announced Edge, Internet Explorer came to an end. Later, in January, Microsoft unveiled the new Chromium-based version of the Microsoft Edge browser and returned to the field with an improved browser. Now, for the non-Chromium Microsoft browser, it seems to be coming to an end. Because, according to the information revealed, WhatsApp Web now says “stop” to the old versions of the Microsoft Edge browser.
WHATSAPP NOTICE FOR MICROSOFT EDGE WITHOUT WEB CHROMIUM
According to a screenshot posted for WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp has started sending a warning message to users using the old version of the Microsoft Edge browser. In the warning message, WhatsApp says the web version of WhatsApp runs on Microsoft Edge 80+ and wants the browser to be updated or switched to alternatives like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. So the non-Chromium based Microsoft Edge browser is now phased out. The Chromium-based Edge browser continues to support WhatsApp Web.
SUPPORT IS DISCONTINUED IN MARCH 2021
Everything seems to be just beginning for the old browser which is not based on Chromium. Because the browser will not receive security updates after March 9, 2021. Therefore, the use of Chromium-based Edge will become widespread, while non-Chromium-based Microsoft Edge will be put on dusty shelves.
