Claudia’s words

“La Noche del 10” was a program that aired on the Argentine television channel El Trece in 2005 and was hosted by the legend.

Maradona died this Wednesday, at the age of 60, after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest.

“Even if you’re dead, I still love you,” he replied.

The star was referring to his ex-wife Claudia Villafañe, whom he married on November 7, 1989 and had two of his daughters, Dalma and Giannina.

Although together and separately they starred in many yellow press covers, in Argentina they are remembered as one of the most intense love stories in the country.

His old age

His final years – and especially his final days – were plagued by health problems.

At the beginning of November he had been operated on urgently for a brain hematoma.

The lesion (chronic subdural hematoma) was found after being hospitalized for anemia and moodiness that had deepened in recent weeks.

“Go see Boca,” he said, referring to the club he played for and was a passionate supporter of. “As an old man, I don’t think people know me too well and I like my grandchildren.”

“I can’t dream of growing old with Claudia because I have no chance, but it was what I dreamed of”.
