  • As Norway had to cancel the match against Romania due to Corona cases, the Nordics lose 0: 3 forfeit.

  • So Uefa decided.

  • What does this judgment mean for the Swiss national team?

  • Your duel against Ukraine was also canceled due to Corona.

  • But the starting position is a bit more complicated.

Bitter news for the Norwegian national team: the Nations League match against Romania, canceled for crown reasons, is considered a defeat. In view of the positive Corona case among the Norwegians and the cancellation by the Norwegian Football Association, last Sunday’s match could not take place in Bucharest as planned, the European Football Association (Uefa) announced Wednesday.

As Norway was responsible for the match not being played, the match was classified as a 3-0 defeat for the Scandinavian country.

The reason for the cancellation of Norway was a crown case in their ranks. Due to the positive test of full-back Omar Elabdellaoui, the national health authorities demanded that the entire team be quarantined for ten days. According to radio broadcaster NRK, Norway is now examining an appeal against the ruling.

Comparable to the Swiss case?

The Swiss national team is also awaiting UEFA’s decision on how the match against Ukraine will be assessed, which was canceled due to Corona. However, the starting position is different here: Covid 19 cases have occurred with the Ukrainian opponent. But it was the doctor from the canton of Lucerne who ordered the quarantine for the entire opposing team. Therefore, the responsibility for the cancellation of the match clearly does not lie with an association as in the case of Norway. The situation is therefore more complicated and UEFA has not yet decided the rating of the match.
