If everyone knows that falling leaves are synonymous with autumn, who knows the compelling reasons? No, the adjective is not too strong. Because if the trees get rid of their leaves – after having “killed” them, it must be said in passing – it’s just… not to die themselves!
Live and let die
Imagine that when it starts to get cold, the fluids passing through the leaves can freeze. The trees therefore have, in theory, two possibilities: to maintain their temperature, risking to spend all their energy on it, or to let them die in order to preserve only their most vigorous elements, namely the trunk, the bark and the branches. We understand their “choice” better, right?
