The fruit, suspended in the air by a pressure jet, reached a speed of 6,565 revolutions per minute before exploding.
British ‘youtuber’ Gavin Free, one of the authors of The Slow Mo Guys channel, has released a video in which, with the help of a compressor, he spins an apple in the air until it explodes. The experiment was filmed in slow motion a 28,500 frames per second.
According to their calculations, the fruit completed one rotation in about 9.1 milliseconds, or 109 rotations per second, which equates to a speed of 6,565 revolutions per minute (rpm).
