Understanding facial harmonization, a procedure that aims to make the face more symmetrical

Application of botulinum toxin and lip filling are two of the most commonly performed procedures in facial harmonization. The practice aims to make the face more symmetrical, favoring the alignment and correction of the angles of the face.

It is a minimally invasive procedure that can be done in the office, in a single day or in a few sessions. Facial harmonization has already been done by celebrities like MC Loma, 18, and actor Daniel Rocha, 29.

– This procedure is very popular because it is “theoretically” simple, or at least people think it is. I think it became popular because people are very dissatisfied with themselves, they are always looking for a flaw, something to change. However, many today come to the office to perform a procedure without knowing what really bothers them – says Pedro Granato, plastic surgeon of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery.

The rest varies according to the number of places occupied. Generally, the recommendation is 24-72 hours of applying ice, sunscreen, and stopping physical activity.

– If the filling was done with hyaluronic acid, and the patient does not like the result or if there are complications, it is possible to reverse in some cases with the enzyme hyaluronidase, which largely dissolves the product – explains dermatologist Natacha de Carvalho Mello Haddad.

Despite becoming popular, facial harmonization isn’t cheap. For those who cannot do the procedure, the advice is to invest in makeup to mark the contours of the face and leave it. For those who want to add volume to their lips, for example, there are lipsticks from famous brands (including pharmacies) that already perform this function very well. However, it is always important to check the validity of the products before applying them.

Understand how it works

  • Hyaluronic Acid: is the product used in the harmonization of the face. In addition to filling the skin, it attracts water, which leaves the region where it was applied more hydrated.
  • Application: The product is applied with microcannulas, a type of needle without a tip, which makes it difficult to pierce blood vessels.
  • Duration: Depending on the region and the quality of the material used, the results can last anywhere from one and a half to two and a half years.
  • Follow-up: the patient must return to the clinic at least six months after the procedure to carry out a new evaluation and possible maintenance.
  • Values: the price varies according to the areas and the quantity of product used, from R $ 1,000 to R $ 30,000.
