When did the way for management open? What happened to you that you decided to direct?
I started writing my first screenplay in 2011 and in 2013 I started having it read to my inner circle. In fact, I have almost the same problem when I open a club or write a screenplay and direct … I’ve never worked focused on making money. I have always had a problem in the worlds I have built for my spaces and I have defended it. In my opinion, they have become places that have changed the direction of the industry and inspired them. I began to think that I have completed my mission in this regard. Writing and directing is better for me … The reason I got my masters in Film – TV is actually to swear. I confess; I made big words saying “Why don’t you eat or drink in a club?” I also didn’t want to shoot my scripts without reading his school to confess. It’s just my struggle with myself.

Tired of business or have you discovered an attractive side of directing?
It would be unfair to my entrepreneurs to call what I do business management. I work with excellent operators. I’m just the founder of the places. They are the control mechanism that chooses the operator, determines the concept and makes the final decisions. I have a great team. I am a person who cannot stop producing and I have understood that opening a restaurant is not the end every time this impulse comes. Pen paper is both much more curative and an endless field of production. For this reason I am much more active and excited.

Have you been exposed to differences between the direction you dream of and the one you actually encounter?
The director who founded the world. So if you’re exposed to something, I think you’re not a director …

Which component should be dominant in the film you decide to direct? Is it his budget, his actors or his story?
History.

Can you frame your storytelling style? To what extent can you say your contribution as director to the film you directed?
I love to search and find aspects of the script that correspond to my personal story and to transfer my inner voice to the screen. Since the three short films and two feature films I’ve shot are the scripts I’ve written so far, I generally have no difficulty progressing in this way.

When defining and writing the story, which elements of life and people do you consider dominant?
In fact, both as a viewer and as a director, I find it more fun to watch and shoot the character dramas from life. Navigating real worlds inspires me even more. It was extraordinary to enter the world of cardboard collectors while filming “I’m a Sea”. Our traumas and our genetic makeup are very rich. Putting the two characters together, silencing their bodies, and talking about the burdens of their families is also a film in itself.

How did you feel about Sitare Akbaş’s victory at the Golden Boll, who starred in your first film?
Spectacular.

What is your ultimate goal for directing?
I want to give life as much as possible to the stories I want to tell, that touch me.

Who are the 10 Turkish and foreign directors whose films you like to watch the most?
I love Fatih Akın very much. Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Wong Kar-Wai … I used it as a reference in my new project. Gaspar Noe, Woody Allen’s film. I love David Fincher’s colors. Kenneth Branagh’s 2007 adaptation of “Sleuth” is my favorite film in a single location. It will be a cliché, but Andrey Tarkovsky and Von Trier shouldn’t be missed. I love the Onur (Saylak) script. I have seen all the films of Tolga (Karaçelik) until the end.
