- The match between Switzerland and Ukraine cannot take place on Tuesday.
- This was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the Ukrainian Football Association with reference to UEFA and subsequently also to SFV.
- During the follow-up tests in the Ukrainian national team, four more cases of the crown will be known on Tuesday. The entire team is currently in quarantine at the team hotel.
- It is not yet clear whether the match will be composed or how it will be scored.
A few hours before the start of the last match of the Swiss national team in the Nations League, the Ukrainian Football Association announced: Tuesday the match could not be played, UEFA knew. Shortly thereafter, the Swiss Football Association (SFV) also confirmed the cancellation.
The European Football Association’s decision was made after the entire Ukrainian national team, including its staff, was quarantined by the Lucerne cantonal doctor. Uefa itself has not yet issued an official statement. The SFV selection arrived at the Swissporarena on Tuesday afternoon and will hold a training session instead of the match.
Will the match take place on Wednesday?
A postponement to Wednesday would be possible under the UEFA regulation, if the Eastern Europeans managed to have at least 13 players (including a goalkeeper) available within 24 hours. In the room there appears to be a belated appointment of several national U21 and U20 players by the Ukrainians.
In the event of cancellation, the disciplinary committee of the European association would intervene. An obvious decision would be a forfeit 3-0 defeat for Ukraine.
In the match between Switzerland and Ukraine, it would be against relegation from League A of the Nations League. The Eastern Europeans have a three-point lead over Switzerland before the last match of the group stage.
