The UK government has announced new restrictive measures against Huawei, permanently removing it from its 5G network starting next year. The process will take place in two phases, the first starting from April which prohibits telecommunications operators from receiving outsourced services from the Chinese manufacturer, except for some circumstances still being defined. The new developments follow the investment the UK is making to remove all equipment from the Chinese manufacturer by the end of 2027. The government says it wants a secure and resilient 5G network, having assembled a task force to find ways to decrease its dependence on major suppliers, including Nokia and Ericsson. The removal of all Huawei equipment means an investment of 280 million euros for the UK government.
This new government position arises after the beginning of the year, the United Kingdom has given the green light to the implementation of Huawei equipment in 5G infrastructures, but preventing it from accessing crucial areas of the network, with only a 35% share. . low risk parts.
