UFC featherweight Brian Ortega has never forgotten his roots, and he proved it when he surprised his father with a brand new Jeep Gladiator. Ortega, who holds both Mexican and American citizenship, was born in Los Angeles to Mexican parents who emigrated to the United States from the Mexican state of Sonora.
“I gave him this because I crashed his truck when I was young. I told him I would pay him back. And I did. I’m a man of my word,” Ortega said.
Posting the reaction video on his YouTube channel, Ortega (15-1-1) revealed that he crashed his father’s old truck when he was 17 and has wanted to undo his mistake ever since. Brian came up with a detailed plan and took the mission very seriously. He enlisted the help of friends and family and even a Mariachi band.
“I bought my dad a new truck! 12 years ago, I totaled my dad’s truck, and my dream was to buy him a new one. This man deserves this and more. I love you, dad! Thanks to all teams helping to make it possible, ”Ortega wrote about the gift of a new truck to his father.
It’s not the first time Ortega has had a fun time with a Mariachi group. After his victory over Chan Sung Jung of “The Korean Zombie”, a Mariachi party received Ortega at his hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Brian Ortega was once a UFC sensation. Taking his time between fights, he climbed the UFC featherweight ranks after six straight wins. Ortega admits he thought he was unbeatable. But life would chastise his attitude.

Ortega returned to the octagon this year to face “The Korean Zombie” after more than a year without a fight – and he delivered. Converging his previous misfortunes in his willingness to return to the top, Ortega showed a compelling performance against a high-ranking opponent.
