Ubisoft: Montreal Police Operation Was Nothing But False Alarm – News

Police sources confirmed to the Canadian public television station, CBC, that the operation involving several tactical units of the local security forces was a false alarm caused by a call to the national 911 emergency number.

Hours earlier, several Canadian television channels had reported that police were conducting a “major operation” in the building of the French video game giant and had spoken of a possible hostage-taking.

Montreal police confirmed via Twitter that an operation around Ubisoft was underway and asked the population to “avoid that sector”, but immediately warned that all information was “to be confirmed”.

Around 4,000 people normally work at the Ubisoft Montreal studio, but a large percentage are currently telecommuting due to the covid-19 pandemic.
