45 categories and 4 musical numbers were presented in the premiere of the 21st edition of the Latin Grammys, broadcast exclusively through the official Facebook page of the Latin Recording Academy. Hosted by actress, singer and entrepreneur Jackie Cruz, the nominees gathered in their homes to celebrate Latin music.
The first prize of the afternoon went to Alex Campos for his album Soldiers in the Best Christian Album category. The performers had 30 seconds to deliver their speech via video call and if one group won, only one member spoke on behalf of all. At the end of the prelude to the Grammy Awards, which lasted about two hours, they kicked off the special ceremony in Portuguese for the Brazilian public, a milestone in the history of the award, as never before.
