Six new positive cases are added on Saturday, for a total of 601 since the start of the pandemic. Of that number, 480 people are considered cured, an increase of two. If we add the 13 deaths, there are 108 active cases of coronavirus currently in Bas-Saint-Laurent, an increase of 2.

The new cases today come from the CKDs of Matanie (2), Rimouski-Neigette (3) and Rivière-du-Loup (1).

The MRC des Basques still has 10 cases since the start of the pandemic. The number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations dropped from 3 to 2. 501 screenings were carried out on Friday.

Two deaths in epidemics in Matanie

The two deaths are linked to outbreaks in nursing homes in Matanie, one at the Résidence des Bâtisseurs and another at the Résidence des Sages. The good news is that there are no new cases among the residents and users of these two establishments and that all other establishments under regional health surveillance are stable, namely the GMF of Rimouski, the CHSLD de Matane and the Residence Belle-Mère in Sainte-Félicité.

The Résidence des Bâtisseurs now has 81 coffers and that of the Sages 12.

Overview of the Basques

The commune of Saint-Clément underlines the commitment and dedication of Jacques-Éric Mercier to his commune. Last October, Mr Mercier informed his team and the municipalities of Saint-Clément and Saint-Hubert de Rivière-du-Loup of his intention to relinquish his duties as director of their respective barracks. Mr. Mercier played a key role in the restructuring of the municipal fire department. Whether through his vision of firefighters’ work or his commitment to improving rolling stock and response, his vision will mark Saint-Clément 48 barracks for a long time to come. His efforts and the passion with which he assumed his duties during his tenure raised the standards of firefighting in Saint-Clément. The Saint-Clément fire brigade remains able to meet your needs and intervene in the event of an emergency. The next few days will allow us to better specify who will be the future responsible for this important municipal service.
