[ad_1]

The launch of the new Toyota Mirai is one of the most anticipated of the moment. The second generation of the electric with hydrogen fuel cell technology represents a total revolution compared to its predecessor, having grown by 85 millimeters, now almost 5 meters in length. The wheelbase has increased by 140 mm thanks to the adoption of the modular GA-L platform, which now offers more space inside.

Increasing the range of Mirai was one of Toyota’s priorities, which achieved an improvement in the order of 30%. The range of Mirai is now about 650 kilometers. The introduction of the new platform has also made it possible not only to include an additional hydrogen tank, but also to move the fuel cell forward, allowing for more efficient use of space.

The “T” position of the high pressure tanks also contributes to the new Mirai’s low center of gravity. The electric motor and battery are placed on the rear axle allowing for a balanced weight distribution of 50:50. Toyota promises exemplary dynamics for the new Mirai.

The Mirai fuel cell is now much more compact despite being more powerful. The power went from 114 to 128 kW, a new record for specific power. The weight reduction compared to the original Mirai cell is approximately 50%. The battery is also smaller, but it has a higher energy density. The top speed of the new Mirai is 175 km / h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes place in 9.2 seconds.
