Tony Finau and Mike Weir will both have to wait until Saturday morning to know if they will make the cut at the Masters after round two was suspended on Friday due to darkness.
Salt Lake City native Finau finds himself among the five players a shot above the intended cutting line after pulling par 2 across 11 holes in Augusta, Georgia on Friday. He got off to a bad start, passing the fourth, fifth and seventh holes before recovering some ground with a little bird on no. 8.
Finau is 1-under overall, equal to 45th place, having shot a 3-under 69 during the first round.
Weir, the 2003 Masters champion and a BYU alum, fired 2-over during his nine holes on Friday and is a shot out of the expected 1-over cut. Weir played the last nine on Friday and combined the bogeys on numbers 10, 16 and 18 with a bird on the 14th hole.
50-year-old Weir is looking to make the cut at the Masters for the first time since 2014. He’s tied for 61st overall after filming a 1-under 71 on Thursday.
Four players are tied for the 9-under lead coming into play on Saturday. All four – Abraham Ancer, Cameron Smith, Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson – finished their second round on Friday.
