A new program to configure Micropayments Lightning Network, tippin.me, has recently introduced the beta test.
The developer of this project described some of its details on a Reddit thread on r / Bitcoin subreddit. The developer states that "allows you to receive suggestions (micro-payments) on the Lightning network, anytime, anywhere, without the need for an LN node", through "a simple web-based portfolio".
When you sign up, tippin.me "offers you a personal link to share that contains a new QR invoice with an undefined amount to pay in. If someone sends you money on that QR invoice, this amount will displayed in your tippin.me dashboard. "The overall plan is for people to" share "it for suggestions on the web, blogs, patreons, forums, etc. Using Lightning Network."
It should be noted that since payments must be routed through the program, the portfolio is custodial. If you use it, you are temporarily entrusting your funds to the developer, so some may find it less secure than a reliable, non-custodial solution.
The project is still in beta and, consequently, has not been adopted by or extended to blogs, forums or other third-party platforms. However, the developer claimed that this functionality can be implemented later along the line if there is sufficient demand.
Shortly after the announcement of the project, the solitary and semi-anonymous developer announced that the website was operational, as was his "personal contribution to the adoption of the Lightning Network".
The Lightning Network has attracted a great deal of interest from cryptographic space due to its ability to send micropayments to the Bitcoin network and address the latency and scalability problems of the blockchain. The developer of tippin.me claimed to "do it for free, without support and away [his] own servers ", with the specific aim of simplifying the adoption of Lightning, and subsequently announced a free 500 satoshi airdrop to the first 500 users to request it, all using the Lightning network.
The project is currently in beta and it is not clear where exactly the roadmap will go from here. However, it is important to note that this project is not part of a startup company and is instead a totally free program created by a single developer.
