Thiem is subject to Medvedev despite leading the ATP finals final

If there were any doubts that the two finalists Thiem and Medvedev are currently the best players on the tour, the duo made them clear at the latest in the semifinals. The Austrian beat world number one Novak Djokovic, while the Russian beat world number two with Rafael Nadal.

The final was then fought. Thiem set the first pinprick, which managed the game’s first break at 3-2 in the fifth game.

The world number three was lucky with the set ball, which he booked for himself on the scooter of the network.

Medvedev fought hard for his first break, but Thiem withstood the enormous pressure of the world number four thanks to his great serve.

Thiem was no longer able to take the service match from the Russian. After two hours and 42 minutes, Medvedev finally used his first match point.

“Daniil’s victory is deserved, he played a great November with the Paris-Bercy title and now here in London”, Thiem has shown himself to be a decent underdog.
