On Monday, the SAF detected 1,388 infections after 5,326 tests were performed. The share of positive samples is 26.1%.

There are 1,275 people in hospital (11 more than the day before), 208 in intensive care (one more than the day before). 45 people died (34 the day before).

So far 876 people have died in Slovenia who were also infected with the coronavirus.

The day before, the share was nearly 28% with significantly fewer tests and positive results.

If we compare with the same day last week: 4,457 tests were performed and 1,087 samples were positive (24.3%). This means that the share of positives is higher than a week ago.

Occupancy of hospitals is increasing

Government spokesperson for covid 19 Jelko Kacin At the beginning of a regular press conference he said the situation was improving too slowly and that hospital occupancy was increasing, so the government decided to prolong the outbreak.

“The epidemiological situation in Slovenia and around the world has long been showing an increase in cases,” he said. Nuška Čakš Jager by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ). In Europe, some countries are experiencing an increase in cases, while others speak of a negative trend, i.e. a decrease in the number of covid cases. Neighboring Austria, for example, records an increase of 23% (compared to the last two weeks). It also points to Sweden, where growth is marked, while in Slovenia growth is just under 4%.

Čakš Jager added that the Czech Republic, Belgium and Hungary were worse off than Slovenia after an incidence of 14 days.

Facts about the epidemic in Slovenia

“We are on a plateau”, the share of positive tests (confirmed cases are divided by the number of tests performed), comments Čakš Jagerjeva. Among the regions, highlights the Pomurje region, which, as we have reported, took the baton from Gorenjska.

Between 2 and 15 November there is a sharp increase in the number of infected people among the elderly, at the expense of infections in the homes of the elderly. The numbers are soaring, he added. Infections are recorded both among patients and employees.

In schools, most infections occur in secondary schools, while in kindergartens there are the fewest infections.

Are you confirmed positive? Then up to the Tan code for the app

“Epidemiologists cannot and cannot call everyone,” Čakš Jager said. They therefore ask all those who confirm themselves to take the opportunity to independently download the TAN code for the #OstaniZdrav application. This is possible via the nijz.si/koda website.

Sources of infections? The virus is present everywhere, Čakš Jager says. Where there is more, where less is not defined in detail, he added.

Are vaccines safe?

There are currently 54 vaccines in various stages of research. Some have skipped the third phase of the clinical trial. Borut Strukelj of the Faculty of Chemistry mentions Russian and Chinese in this context. Are these vaccines safe? We do not know. The data on Russian as well as Chinese are not enough, it is clear.

He adds that “vaccines are being developed in many companies and we can be pleased that more will be available.”
