The winners of the 21st edition of the awards

Rosalía, Carlos Vives and Natalia Lafourcade were the big winners of the 21th edition of the Latin Grammy, with three awards each.

The ceremony took place in the city of Miami, with a production that were not present audience and red carpet because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Additionally, several candidate presentations were made virtually with links to places like Buenos Aires; Guadalajara Mexico; Rio de Janeiro; Madrid and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Rosalía, Vives and Lafourcade: three Latin Grammys each

This is the second consecutive year that Rosalía has led the awards. His three gold gramophones made it to the previous awards ceremony, streamed via the Latin Recording Academy Facebook account.

Two of the awards were for the single “Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi” which he plays with Ozuna. That song was the winner in the categories: best urban fusion / performance and best urban song. The third was gramophone for the video of “TKN”, a song he performs with Travis Scott, who won the category of best music video in a short version.

Meanwhile, Natalia Lafourcade won the evening’s most coveted award, album of the year, for “Un canto por México, Vol. 1”. He won the other two Latin Grammys for his song “My religion” (“best Mexican regional song”) and “En Cantos”, a song by the Puerto Rican singer iLe who plays with Lafourcade.

For its part, the “Cumbiana” production awarded Carlos Vives three Latin Grammys in the categories “best contemporary album / tropical fusion”, “best tropical song” for “Canción para Rubén” with Rubén Blades and “best long music video version” for his documentary “The Lost World of Cumbiana”.

J Balvin came as a favorite of the night being the most nominated artist of the delivery, with thirteen mentions, and having broken the Guinness record set by Calle 13 in 2011 for the artist with the most nominations in a year.

However, of the 13 nominations, Balvin only earned a Latin Grammy in the “Best Urban Music Album” category for his “Colores” album.
